Fontys University of Applied Sciences provides more than 200 programmes at bachelor level, and 38 master courses in a variety of disciplines, covering six domains of education. Some of these domains have overlapping areas, others are linked together by bridges in between, or by shared, directive aspects of the actual programme content.

The master programmes will be executed Under the Fontys brand and co-ordinated within and directed by the Fontys Graduate School. In the international masters’ field Fontys co-operates with acknowledged universities, national and international (in The Netherlands and in England, U.K).

Fontys Graduate School basically distinguishes two kind of master programmes, two kind of master students: worlds apart. There are master programmes requiring (working) experience, maturity, distance in time. In the case in question the bachelor and the master programme will be rather different both in content, structure and approach. Students often will need a bridging programme prior to admittance and most certainly at least 2 years of working experience in a related field of work. These kind of master candidates will show an urge to explore and to experience the field and borders of the actual profession first, before the need to deepen their knowledge or to research new borders comes in sight. Next to the internationally fixed master degree titles – Master of Art (MA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Education (M Ed), Professional Master (M) – the Fontys Graduate School makes also a distinction between two types of master programmes. A choice with respect to content, personal attitude and individual ambition: master programmes requiring working experience, and master programmes requiring no working experience.

WORKING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING MASTER PROGRAMMES:

DOMAIN OF ECONOMY, ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT

MSc in STRATEGY AND ORGANIZATION

Minimal 2 to 3 years of working experience in the field of Business administration is required. If previous education is only semi- related, a bridging programme of 13 ects is required prior to formal admission.

Duration: 30 months, 90 ects in part-time.

MSc in IMPLEMENTATION AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT

Minimal 2 to 3 years of working experience in the field of HRM is required.

Duration: 30 months, 90 ects in part-time.

Conducted in Dutch.

MSc in STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Minimal 2 to 3 years of working experience in the field of HRM is required.

Duration: 30 months, 90 ects in part-time.

MSc in PUBLIC MANAGEMENT AND POLICY

Minimal 3 to 5 years of working experience as a senior employee in policy, politics or management.

Duration: 30 months, 90 ects in part-time.

M of ADVANCED MORTGAGE PLANNING & REAL ESTATE

Minimal 3 years of working experience in a related field of work (mortgage adviser, financial planner) is required.

Duration: 24 months, 60 ects in part-time.

M of ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING

Working experience is strongly recommended.

Duration: 24 months, 60 ects in part-time.

DOMAIN OF LOGISTICS, I C T, MANAGEMENT AND TECHNICS

MSc in BUSINESS PROCESSING AND ICT

Minimal 2 to 3 years of working experience is required. If previous education is only semi-related, a bridging programme of 13 ects is required prior to formal admission.

Duration: 30 months, 90 ects in part-time.

MSc in MANAGEMENT AND IT

Working experience in the IT field might be an advantage.

Duration: 30 months, 90 ects in part-time.

DOMAIN OF EDUCATION

M Ed in LEADERSHIP IN EDUCATION

Minimal 3 to 4 years of working experience, on basis of an established amount of sufficient apl *, obtained by an entrance assessment + apel **, (* accreditation of prior learning & ** accreditation of prior experiential learning).

Duration: 36 months, 70 ects in part-time. (Qualified/ certified head-master: 24 months, 45 ects in part-time).

MA Ed in SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS

Minimal 2 to 3 years of working experience in the field. Test of English proficiency: IELTS level 6,5 is required.

Duration: 24 months, 90 ects in part-time, (inclusive 10 ects OSO-apl).

M Ed in PEDAGOGICAL STUDIES

Minimal 2 years of working experience in the pedagogical field is required.

Duration: 24 months, 90 ects in part-time. Conducted in Dutch.

DOMAIN OF HEALTH CARE, SOCIAL SCIENCES, BEHAVIOUR & SOCIETY

M of ADVANCED NURSING PRACTICE

(BIG) registered nurse. Minimal 4 years of working experience. When ‘in-service’ trained an assessment is required prior to formal admission.

Duration: 24 months, 65 ects in part-time.

DOMAIN OF VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS

M of ARCHITECTURE

Students have to find a job in a related field of work in order to get started in the Master of Architecture programme. Applicants have to work 3 to 4 days per week at a relevant place (architect’s firm or related).

Duration: 48 months, 240 ects in part-time in concurrent education.

M of URBANISM

Students have to find a job in a related field of work in order to get started in the Master of Urbanism programme. Applicants have to work 3 to 4 days per week at a relevant place (town planning firm or related).
