Leisure Studies
The Master Leisure Studies aims at a critical understanding of the relationship between leisure behavior, leisure organizations and leisure policies, and how supply and demand interact in the market.
The master Leisure Studies is designed for those having a bachelor degree in Leisure Studies or a comparable degree in a related field, seeking a more advanced level of leisure theory, a higher level of mastery of research skills and a deeper level of understanding the developments in the international leisure markets. The focal point of the one-year Master in Leisure Studies is the academic study of leisure from an integrated perspective. Leisure practices in the fields of sport, tourism, culture and media and the ways in which different actors (e.g. tourists, managers, policymakers, consumers, sports participants) interact in these fields is a central focus of the Master. In leisure practices, aspects of demand (including the need for social cohesion and the shaping of identity) and supply (marketing, policy and organization) come together. This broad approach is based on a multidisciplinary perspective. Graduates are prepared for positions in the leisure sector (sports, culture, tourism, spatial development) which require an academic level of intellectual ability. The program aims to develop graduates for strategic positions in the national and international academic job market.
