Information Management

Information and communication technology (ICT) is no longer used just to support business activities, but has become an enabler of (new) business strategies. Since the MSc Information Management at Tilburg University is taught at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, it is the role of ICT as strategy enabler that is at the core of this programme. The students learns about the latest developments in the field of ICT, and how it can be used to achieve a company's overall strategy. Special attention is paid to the design of new types of organizations and virtual cooperation through the Internet. The program also discusses ways in which ICT can be used to design and improve inter en intra organizational supply chains, and to innovate in marketing processes and product development. The student learns how companies can apply ICT to formulate and achieve their goals on the strategic, tactical and operational level, also known as "Business-IT Alignment". In brief, Information Management studies topics at the intersection of ICT and business administration, a problem area every organization has to deal with in the current knowledge based economy.

Furthermore, you must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. A bachelor's degree in Informatiekunde (Information Management) of Tilburg University, or equivalent, will give you automatic access to the programme. A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Studies, or International Business of Tilburg University gives access, provided the courses Databases, Business Engineering, and Information Policy were part of your set of elective courses. For students with a bachelor degree in Business Information Science (Bedrijfsinformatica) or Information Science (Informatica) from a Dutch professional university (HBO) we offer a two-year program. International students who wish to enter the graduate programme must have a solid background in Information Systems and Business Administration, basic knowledge of mathematics and business statistics (comparable to a GMAT score of 75% on the quantitative part), and be proficient in English (IELTS test score of 6.5 ). Any Bachelor's degree with sufficient demonstrated knowledge in these areas will result in admission to the Master's programme. After successful completion of the MSc in Information Management, you will be awarded an internationally recognised Master of Science degree, with many career opportunities. To give some examples: Intergrating IT and business strategy for large companies Designing a firm's information and communication structure Software development and automation Implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and other systems Outsourcing operations as client manager (of ICT services suppliers) or contact manager (of ICT service recipient) systems and business analyst in ICT departments of large companies, such as manufacturing and insurance companies, banks, pension funds. Consultancy firms in business and ICT related projects EDP-auditing firms The government and the non-profit sector ICT and business research institutes In addition, the Master programme provides a good preparation to continue with a Ph.D.-study in Information Management.
